We are an interesting species – We seem more concerned with the negative possibilities of an evolving technology, AI, than we do with protecting ourselves from the known devastation of a nuclear bomb. To many, keeping this country safe and thus free isn’t worth paying more for gas for a while.
Artificial Intelligence, that like every major innovation is history, has an amazing upside and yet if used improperly has significant downsides . AI isn’t going away – no significant innovation in the world has ever been stopped because it may be used in negative ways. The nation that takes advantage of AI is going to benefit the world and have stronger voice in world affairs.
The devastation of a nuclear bomb is well documented and experienced. 9/11 killed over two thousand Americans – a missile hitting New York, or any other city, with a nuclear warhead would kill hundreds of thousands immediately and be responsibility for millions of other dying from the radioactive aftermath. Why is Iran with a nuclear capability different from the other nations with nuclear weapons? Iran is run by religious zealots who don’t care about dying – they welcome dying in the name of Allah because they become martyrs.
